Reporting to the VC-CFO, Information Technology Services (ITS) delivers Enterprise information technology services to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the leadership of the campus Chief Information Officer (CIO). POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Director of ITS RMP-IS, incumbent will apply advanced software concepts and objectives to medium to large projects of broad scope and complexity. Regularly resolves highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Selects tools, methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results.

Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Provides technical guidance to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.

Applies skills as a seasoned, experienced professional that is responsible for interfacing with business units and stakeholders to maintain, integrate, enhance and support the delivery of complex, highly integrated information systems supporting major building and auxiliary business serviced professional with a full understanding of industry-wide business process and analysis practices and organized to provide to the UC San Diego community.

As a Information Systems Analyst on the Resource Management and Planning Information Services team, incumbent will be focused primarily on understanding complex business processes, and designing solutions leveraging multiple commercial off-the-shelf, custom developed solutions and integrations.
Â
Applies business process and analysis concepts and department / unit and locational policies and procedures that resolves a wide range of business process issues of moderate to complex scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions for a variety of business process problems.
Â
The Business Systems Analyst will work on in-house applications or commercial off-the-shelf applications (COTS) with all ITS departments.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience and/or training.
• Employee must be available to work evenings and weekends.
• Employee must be available to travel as required.
• Job offer is contingent on clear background check.
• Experience with fundamental programming concepts, frameworks, languages, and technologies such as Java, JavaScript, Python, XML, JSON, or others.
• Experience working with relational databases and query languages, such as MySQL, DB2
• Familiarity with integration concepts, such as EAI, SOA, ESB, Web Services, SOAP, REST, Messaging Services, API Management, and others.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation communications skills.
• Excellent project leadership and management skills.
• Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
• Expertise with the design and implementation of software and systems architectures, including the design of reusable code libraries, adoption of design patterns, and development of standards for the organization’s application portfolio.
• Works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated problem-solving skills. Ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Demonstrated skill in leading technical teams, including organizing workflow and scheduling assignments. Ability to work independently on complex technical projects as well as on a team of technical professionals and departmental decision-makers.
• Advanced knowledge of commercial applications, best practices, and policies including demonstrated experience configuring software. Advanced knowledge of integration, best practices, and policies including demonstrated experience configuring software. Demonstrated skill at analyzing and resolving incidents of high complexity.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Greater than 5 years of Maximo experience
• Greater than 5 years of Tririga experience
• Demonstrated ability in software development or integration middleware.
• Ability to comply with UC San Diego’s Principles of Community. Knowledge of UC San Diego’s Principles of Community, is preferred.
